Dear Instagram, I Appreciate You

I myself am very into the pop-punk/rock music scene so I like to stay updated with my favorite bands and what they're doing throughout the year. Instagram is a great tool for me because it allows me to do this easily and with excellent content at my fingertips. Most professional groups have their various social media accounts because they benefit them with the advertising, and it also gives the groups a way to reach out to their fans or consumers.

All I have to do is search the Instagram page that I’m looking for in the search bar, follow the desired page, and then boom, I’m now technologically connected to this persons or groups Instagram life.

I created my Instagram account roughly five years ago when I was a freshman in high school. It's crazy to think about that, 5 years ago, I made my "Instagram" account. It really does speak for itself as to how far social media and technology in general has come. What I thought was a "newer" social media outlet is now over six years old and is still gaining popularity. Instagram in particular, is an awesome social media application because it does a great job keeping you connected with your favorite celebrities, bands, photographers and other artists, organizations etc. by being a picture-based social media app. People, or these different groups of people are able to upload pictures that are usually taken in their own lives and that they find cool or interesting, and then whoever is following this person or group of people will see these uploaded pictures on their Instagram feed in the order of when they’re uploaded.

My favorite bands will post cool things that go on in their eventful lives, and then kids like me are able to see these pictures and are able to connect with the bands a lot more than we could if these social media pages weren’t a thing. We should not take this luxury for granted because all the generations before us weren’t given this power and opportunity so easily. Instagram and various other social media apps allow me to see pictures and videos of my favorite bands performing their shows and promoting their future work all on my cell phone and I think that’s a really cool thing.
